My blog is devoted to not only paint to order miniatures but the hobby in general. Including video games, books, podcasts and even some event coverage.
For all of you Dawn of War fans out there, THQ has released their newest installment called Retribution. Here is the premise so far:
"Taking place years after the events in Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising, this title allows players to choose their perspective with the first multiple-race single player campaign in the Dawn of War II series. The first race to be revealed is the savage Orks, but no matter which race is chosen players will be taken on an epic journey through each story arc, revealing the answers to many questions left open in previous Dawn of War titles."

For those of you that aren't familiar with Blood Bowl its basically a fantasy version of American football, played between two teams of 16 players, each team fielding up to 11 players at a time. Touchdowns are scored by taking the ball into the opposition's end zone, and a team can win either by scoring the most touchdowns, or by violently eliminating the other team's entire roster. The game incorporates both real-time and turn-based strategy elements.
Gameplay Even if you've played Blood Bowl for the table top game you may still have to play out the tutorial to get used to the controls. Start with the command rules. Then there is turn based rules, real time rules and some basic rules as well. Now you are ready for a match. Choose local or XBOX Live when you are ready and the teams are: Humans, Dwarves, Skaven, Orc, Lizardmen, Goblin, Wood Elf and Chaos.
Then you can also pick from: -One off match: Random teams -Begin a Campaign: Choose your team, rules type (classic or blitz) and fill team roster. -Begin a competition: Select cut, select a team and fill team. -Create a competition: Choose presets, number of teams, rules, championship, season, prizes, cup, etc. -Load: Campaign or competition
Graphics The graphics in the Blood Bowl video game are amazing. This is both in the cut scenes and even the in game sprites look like the painted miniatures counterparts. Conclusion This game isn't bad except that there is a bit of a load time (longer than most games) and the controls are terrible. The rules also confused me but then again I've never played the table top version of Blood Bowl before. The only good part about this game is the graphics. Do yourselves a favor if you like the table top game than stick with that but don't waste your money on this game for the XBOX 360.
System: XBOX 360 but you can also get it for the PC/PSP/DS
